Has anyone ever been persuaded to apply somewhere?

So I’m sure everybody’s gotten emails or letters/packages in the mail from this school or that school telling the potential applicant about why their school is so great. What I’m wondering is have any of you out there ever been convinced to apply to a school because of one of these emails or packages? If so what school? Just a curiosity.
Thanks!

My S decided to look at Fordham because we got something in the mail. We never had really considered the school because it is close by and we were concerned about it being in the Bronx. Turns out he fell in love with Fordham during that visit, was accepted, attended, and had a fantastic four years there. Thank goodness they sent him a letter and brochure!!

@happy1‌ That’s great! Thanks for the reply!

I have talked about being turned off from certain schools just by the massive amount of mailings and promotional material that they send (the New School, Agnes Scott, and more).

If you want to just get general anecdotes, a thread was trending some time ago around the same time-- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1731244-what-are-your-stalker-schools-and-have-you-caved-in-to-them-p1.html
There are a lot of accounts there, if you haven’t seen it already.
