Has anyone ever been rejected to EECS but was deferred to L&S for CS?

If so, how rare is this occurence?

I want to go to UCB, but I don’t want to be rejected.

I am applying in-state.

I know people with higher stats that get rejected from EECS, so I am not sure what to do at this point. I have family near UCB, so going here would be awesome. It would be even more awesome if I got in through EECS…

Is it worth going to L&S undeclared? I am very sure I want to major in computer science. I am also applying to UIUC CS, UMichigan, UCSD, and CMU SCS.

It’s not rare. It just doesn’t happen at all. There is no such thing as “deferred” in UCB admissions.

Noone can be certain that you will or will not be accepted to CoE.

L&S is probably easier for frosh admission, but you need to get a 3.3 GPA in the prerequisite courses to declare the L&S CS major.
