If so, what are they? I’m STRESSING.
So the auditions are just a glimpse of everyones potential. Yes, there are many people who are in BFA programs who are “not that good” but there was something about them that the programs wanted to take a chance. You did your best, hopefully have some BA backups and waiting is hard! Fingers and toes crossed for you!
Aren’t you still a HS junior? You had said so in another thread you posted. If the idea of BFA admission is causing you this much stress for this prolonged a time, you should know that nobody has to pursue a BFA! If you’re full of doubt about your ability in this field, even compared to other people starting out, why would you want to put yourself through conservatory style training? You can take your time and grow into whatever path. Life is long and where you go to school is not the be-all, end-all in any field.
If you are set on a BFA but cant shake your nerves about getting into one - there are BFAs that are somewhat less selective and some that don’t require any audition whatsoever for admission. If you’re open to it, pursuing an Acting BFA instead of MT is another route to enter smaller applicant pools. I don’t think major choice should necessarily be made on the numbers of how many people are applying but if you’re looking to have more options and enjoy Acting, or consider it a strength, that could give a leg up on admission odds as well.
Have some variety of selectiveness in schools when you do make your list and as @helpingthekid73 said, have some BAs on your list too. There’s nothing wrong with going that route if other things don’t work. And there may be advantages to it as well. You take your best shot and hedge your bets some and see how it goes. Nearly any career in performing is built on accepting rejection and persisting anyway, working to get better, hoping to catch breaks and trying to be prepared for them when you do.
Breathe, relax. This feels like the biggest deal in the world but it is not. Everyone’s life goes on, regardless of what programs they do or don’t get into and no school will make or break your whole future. In my own experience, I got a lot more out of college when I realized my education depended on what I put into it, regardless of where I was. The secret is you’re basically learning how to learn, how to try, how to fail, how to keep going. None of that ends with college either.
In every one of your threads you say you are stressed. I hope you know that a career as a performer will be filled with auditions, and lots of rejections and some acceptances. Is this going to stress you out every single time?
