Has anyone taken a Math 16A Equivalent course/math course at Berkeley City College?

Hi, I’m a current Berkeley student and I really really really hate math. But I have to take it for my major…so, I was thinking about taking the 16A equivalent at Berkeley City College next semester. Suggestions or personal experiences? I somehow managed to escape Calculus during my high school years and now it’s coming back to haunt me. Thanks for your help!!

Yeah, smart idea. Even for people who have taken years of math, the midterms are hard for them.

wow what did you do for your three years of math in HS? lol

A lot of people take like Geometry=>Algebra 2/Trig => Precalculus => AP Stats for their four years of HS.

^^^ To be fair, I couldn’t take Calculus, either…so for my 4 math years in HS, I took Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus, in that order.

What is your major? If it’s not math or science oriented but more like a liberal arts thing, it might be a good idea to try it at a smaller college. It would be not only cheaper, you wouldn’t have to worry about it and maybe mess up your GPA if you hate math that much (yeah, I hate math too)

Just wondering, are there any extra stuff you have to do to be enrolled in 2 colleges at the same time?

Students in L&S see this form:

Non-L&S colleges’ policies differ.

Thank you.

Don’t you still have to take a placement test to place into the Math 16A equivalent at Berkeley City College?

I’m pretty sure you can get away from the placement test if you have AP credit.

nvm, just read op, he didn’t take ap calc.

placement tests shouldn’t be too hard…
