Has anyone tried snack box services- like Graze? Or favorite frozen meals?

Good point, @jonri

I did sample quite a few things at various fairs this summer without a problem. I’ll have the guys try it though. They good at picking out what I like and don’t like.

OTOH, I am very worried about the 150 undergrads I’m teaching this semester lol.

Saturdays may be well-attended at Costco but that gives us a chance to guess which of our neighbors, friends or acquaintances we will run into there. Because there’s always someone.

Evening hours spread out the crowds and help those who work later. Not all workers have family to be with evenings. I wondered once about stores open 24 hours but night time is when a lot of restocking and other work is being plus I heard being open added security for some so the lack of many customers is not a negative.

OP- know your material and present it well and things will work. Remember there will always be students who do not do their share in the learning process so it won’t be your fault if they do poorly.

Sometimes folks want odd hours jobs for a variety of reasons. Some prefer not leaving their children in childcare for a variety of reasons so parents can work different shifts to handle the kids - or elderly parents. Some are students who need work outside of class hours.

My guess is Costco isn’t open late on weekends because it’s not busy enough for them to justify staffing such huge spaces.

Even on a busy day, the store aisles themselves don’t seem too bad - it’s big enough. The parking lot may be busy and the lines may be a little long (but go fast) - what annoys me most is the people who linger around the sample stations and then barely saunter away…I’m going to Costco today after work - what a way to start the weekend!!!

@romanigypsyeyes - not for yourself obviously but check out the pet aisle. Good prices on dog food, beds and flea medication.

Though I normally don’t buy snacks, I am a big fan of some of the Costco snacks as they are less grain based. Nut bars, and then pumpkin seed and cashew chunks are some of my favorites. Unfortunately the bag sizes are gigantic. Fish is also wonderful at Costco.

My standard lunch is a Tupperware bowl with garbanzos, a boiled egg, greens, tomatoes and whatever else is in the fridge. At this time of year I bring an ear of corn on the cob, to heat in the work microwave. If you eat tuna, or salmon, canned fish or pickled herring works well in the salad. I keep salad dressing at work.

Oh @mom60 don’t tell me things like that. Furchild is so spoiled already haha.

Roommate is unexpectedly working tomorrow so I think we’re going tonight after Mr R gets home. Anyone want to throw out a last minute tip or two?

Have fun!

@romanigypsyeyes - they also sell dog toys

We have so… much… food.

A note if anyone didn’t know… they said it was new but I don’t know how new. So apparently if you get the $120 membership- the one that gives you 2% back on purchases- you get a refund if you don’t accumulate $60 back. So if you have $50 in cash back, they’ll give you $10 to top it off to $60.

There was also no onion soup but there was broccoli cheddar.

Also they have EINSTEIN’S BAGELS! Yumm

Tell us everything you bought, please!

Hmm, one onion soup 6-pack company (Cuisine Adventures?) says available at Michigan Costco Sept-Jan.
Yes, the brand I had is/was from Trader Joe’s.

It didn’t have it that I saw. :-?? We even did a second look. They didn’t have clam chowder either but they had cream of cauliflower. I wasn’t feeling particularly adventurous though.

Apples, nectarines, waffles, bagels, raspberries, strawberries, mountain dew (don’t judge me), peach fruit cups, burrito bowls (roommate), pocky sticks (?), tortillas, hummus, pita, jerky (Mr R), cereal, cashews, tomatoes, tortellini, plums, breakfast bars, salsa, bananas, and a few other little things that I’m blanking on. They also got rotisserie chicken for themselves. Said it was good.

There was some other things I wanted to get but we realized we were probably hitting space limits on the fridge. The guys’ job this weekend is to clean out the big freezer we have and see what we have and what we don’t.

Non-food: roommate bought two flannel shirts, we bought some cleaning supplies we needed anyway, windshield wipers (I’ve needed them for a while but always forget…), and some towels. Nothing for the doggos because by the time we got to that, we were pretty packed. My neighbor spoils them anyway, especially when we dogsit my in-laws’ dog like we are now.

Oh and of course Mr R bought cookies and some other sweets because he can eat like a garbage disposal but remains stick thin.

Did you enjoy it??? Were there still samples going on?

There were no samples :frowning:

It was fun. We had way too much fun for a warehouse haha. The workers were SOOO nice.

Our checkout person told us that the warehouse was being expanded by almost 30k feet @-)

Oh I did use my wheelchair. Since I went with both guys, one could push me. Maybe I’ll use an electronic scooter thingy next time.

Yay!!!

Sorry for the bump but @lookingforward how did you find what was at the store at certain times?

I googled the frozen onion soup TJ’s sells and checked the mfr web site. It had a spot called “find near you” or some such.
That soup is good.

Try this, which should be for Michigan http://www.cuisineadventuresfoods.com/store-locator/listing/?country=3&province=18&product=

Far as I an tell, the co goes by either Plats du Chef or Cuisine Adventures.
