Again to emphasize, please do not use any AI tools frivolously. AI can be great in medical and other settings but the mega data centers required for AI are an environmental nightmare and every time you use ChatGPT to answer something you could have done by yourself you are contributing to the problem.

When ChatGPT asks me a follow up question, why do I feel compelled to answer politely, such as “Yes, please”?

Because you say “please,” ChatGPT responds in kind. If you said, “No, dammit!,” and continued in that vein, Chat might use its chameleon tendencies differently.
