Looked for a thread to see who has been impacted by the security company’s upgrade/patch that caused the massive nightmare for microsoft azure. My H is in IT and has been dealing with their 900 servers that will need to be restarted when the patch is fixed. Friends flights are messed up. For us, my DH fell off a ladder this morning (don’t get me started) and broke his wrist. They were able to take X-rays but couldn’t send them to the orthopedist. I took pictures of the X-rays on my phone and emailed them. They couldn’t print out a discharge summary. What a mess. At least he could be seen, though can’t see the orthopedist til Monday morning. It will need surgery and we are supposed to go to Africa in 2 weeks. Not happy! Any other messes today??

And the name of the security company (CrowdStrike) sounds like a name some cyberhacker would use!!
Our guests are now tracking a three-hour flight delay due to this issue which will mess with our bayside dinner plans tonight. ![]()
Literally was going to start one now.
How have you all been affected?
Work email via the Microsoft app seems off. My weather app isn’t updating!
Hope it’s fixed for tomorrow or we will encounter border issues.
Oh gosh sorry about your H!
I was also surprised no thread - here’s one story. Sounds like it was bad globally.
It’s like nothing ever happened on my end. I’m feeling pretty lucky.
Hackers are the worst. ![]()
Could be hackers, could be some inept people pushing an update before it was ready for prime time. Remember early days of Windows? We will eventually know.
Some apps at work seem to be down… so chilling on CC while they are being fixed. Sucks because it means I will have to catch up on the weekend!!!
My h is asleep at the moment. I know he’ll have a lot to do when the systems are being restored. And he is in pain with his broken wrist. Ugh. At least we have an appointment with a top hand and wrist specialist (whose mother in law is my bridge buddy). But it was an incompetent. Not a hacker
SIL is supposed to fly back home to US today after a conference. I checked Flight Aware and his flight is enroute, but running late. He needs to be back before 9pm because D has to go to work at the ER. And the ER ought to be tons of fun tonight without any computer services…
The urgent care couldn’t access any medical records today.
Minor in the grand scheme of things, but I met friends for breakfast and the restaurant could only serve cash-paying customers. Fortunately we had enough cash between us.
It was a reminder that we shouldn’t completely rely on our credit cards. I’m glad my parents taught me to always have emergency cash on hand.
My S22 is in Barcelona doing an internship this summer. This is his last full weekend of his 8 weeks there, and he’s traveled to a number of locations during weekends with no issues. Of course this weekend he planned to go to Marrakech from today through early Monday. Flight was supposed to leave around 3pm, and he’s still waiting to take off more than 4 hours later. Sounds like he’ll get there eventually tonight, but much later than expected. Hopefully once he’s there things will go well.
I thought I saw where Southwest wasn’t affected like the other airlines. Probably because they still do most tasks on paper. ![]()
I have no idea if my work was impacted, as I’m not there, but I haven’t seen any emails. We are headed to see older S/Gf but younger S /GF are supposed to fly down and meet us tonight. They are supposed to be apartment hunting tomorrow. Crossing my fingers that they make it here ok.
And if so, on time. I’m already looking at picking up them at 10:30pm after getting up at 4am this morning.
All the local hospitals near me canceled elective procedures. Many doc offices are closed too. Very scary how easily things can shut down with IT issues
Our Deltek accounting system at my company has been down because of this. I had to drive D1 to the doctor this morning as she needed some lab work done and we had no issues.
I only work a half day on Fridays (and from home) so since nothing is working for me the weekend has begun!
But they have to deal with exploding soda cans…
Sofa cans? Are the passengers getting too large? ![]()
Oh, I’m guessing soda cans. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Typo fixed. Apparently, Southwest doesn’t use refrigerated trucks to deliver drinks to the aircraft. Cans have been overheating on the tarmac. Sounds funny but apparently 20 FAs sustained injuries.
