Men in Black is kind of a disaster movie. As is Ghostbusters
If you like wierd stuff attacking cities/humankind.

I thought Children of Men was very well done.
I also liked Independence Day & the *Day after Tomorrow/i

Not even my love of John Cusack will get me to see 2012. I’m not a fan of pure disaster movies at all. Men in Black and Ghostbusters to me do not fit that category, I did like them.

Another sort-of-a-diaster movie with a spacecraft in trouble that I liked - *Space Cowboys/I. Love Clint Eastwood, he is one of the greatest actors of all times!

ADad, agree about Volcano - it was a complete waste of our time. *Dante’s Peak *has Pierce Brosnan and beautiful Idaho/WA scenery! (And we’ve been to Wallace and toured the silver mines:))

BB- we like all the same ones; Space Cowboys is a good one.

I always like Armegeddon late on a Saturday night. I guess Deep Impact is not repeated on cable as often as I have not seen it as many times. I love a good old disaster movie when I am cleaning house or working on projects.

For much fun, compare the 2012 trailer with and without special effects.

[‘2012’ Trailer Without Special Effects (Video)](<a href=“http://digg.com/movies/2012_Trailer_Without_Special_Effects_Video]'2012”>http://digg.com/movies/2012_Trailer_Without_Special_Effects_Video)

A"good disaster movie" is a wonderful oxymoron (in more ways than one). Most good movies involving disaster involve a scenario that takes place before or after the actual event. A few that come to mind are “Fail Safe” or “On the Beach”. ( But then again, whats not to like about “Mars Attacks”, ESPECIALLY Tom Jones singing “It’s Not Unusual” for the finale. A genuine work of art in which I can find no fault.)

I got teary-eyed when Bruce Willis died at the end of Armageddon. I was expecting him to pull some Die Hard-type stuff and be holding on to the end of the space shuttle. Yippee Ki Yay, Mother******.

What about the Final Destination movies count as? Are they disaster flicks? I love #2
