Has your parent lived in California continuously since his/her birth?

<p>In applying to Cal Poly, I came upon this question… Preceding the question is:</p>

<p>-What U.S. state/territory does your parent regard as his/her permanent home? </p>

<ul>
<li>Easy answer. Colorado. However, if the answer wasn’t California, why would it ask, “Has your parent lived in California continuously since his/her birth?” </li>
</ul>

<p>Does it mean have they lived there for long periods at a time? Yeah, probably a stupid question, but thanks for the help anyways!</p>
