Have a disciplinary hearing coming up! Advice?

Hey guys just looking for some advice, maybe someone has been in a similar situation. So anyway I made a very stupid decision this past semester. My fiancé lost her job causing me to work 50+ hours a week to afford everything and as well I had a sort of workshop class that required 24 hours of shop hours. 12 before midterm and 12 after. We log our hours and professor doesn’t check it until it’s time. I did my first 8 but felt like I couldn’t afford to take off any more work so I started signing the sheet that I had done the hours but my professor noticed. Anyways now I have a hearing in about 2 and half weeks and not sure what to expect? Could I face expulsion for this? What happens if I do get expelled are my chances of getting a degree ruined? My educational record is clean if that helps. Any advice is much appreciated thanks

Probably, the syllabus will tell you what will happen when you dont complete the required work hours. Signing when you had not completed the assignment is cheating and could add another punishment.

Unfortunately depending on the student code of conduct it sounds like this will be treated as academic dishonesty. Your best defense is to explain your financial situation to the panel and professor. Acknowledge what you were doing was wrong and you wish you decided to take an alt course of action like talking to your professor. That’s honestly your best bet at this point. You were caught red handed so explaining your decision process is all you can really do.
