CHANCES At MIT, Brown

Note:rejected ED at CMU with previous Subject scores of 1340(M2 and chem)

How did your SAT scores break down? and where else have you applied?

I have also applied to RPI

bump…anybody??

Remember, those who don’t apply have 0% chance of acceptance, and in the end “we only hit what we aim at.”

a simple yes/no or a number would have helped

I think you still have a possible shot to top schools

thanx!!

any comments would be highly appreciated

MIT: 35%
Brown: 45%

wow!!thanx for the consice post. Talk about being to the point. -thanx a lot
any body not agree with those figures?

i would say, since you are international, mit 20% and brown 30%

if you can bring up the SAT’s

25% Harvard
25% Yale
20% Princeton
45% Brown
50% Cornell
40% Dartmouth
40% Penn
35% Columbia

…this is based upon what colleges are looking for…i also think MIT is around 20-25% because it is more stats based

I don’t understand how you were rejected at CMU with those scores…unless your GPA was pretty bad…which doesn’t seem so with a rank like that.

If you were rejected at CMU, I don’t think it was because of SAT II scores. And CMU ED is pretty easy from what I know.

Yeah , i am almost dead sure they rejected me bcause of my low SAT 2’'s
I got rejected ED for engineering. Now since I have retaken them and have applied to SCS regular desicion, can you tell meif i will get in
assuming
M2-760-800
Phy-780-800
Note :my previous scores submitted for CMU ED
660,680(M2 and chem)

Why else would they reject me
I was in thier median for SAT 1, and no my gpa was not bad.
we dont have a gpa system, but i was in the top 5% of my class and also had very good grades in board exams

Unless you meant rejected as in deferred to regular decision or something…you weren’t allowed to apply to CMU this year. Rejected means you must wait another year if you want to apply to the school you were rejected by.

Well, this is the usual rule for most other ED schools at least. I don’t know about CMU.

Edit:

And I don’t think 670, while is relatively low for Math IIC, is not that bad for Chemistry. I doubt all CMU applicants are that good. If anything, it was your SAT I’s…which aren’t THAT bad either…I really don’t know…call CMU or something

No, Once you get rejected at CMU ED you are allowed to apply to another college within the university regular desicion other than the one you got rejected at.This obviously is possible only if you have applied ED.
This I am really sure about

Maybe it was because I am an international, and from what I have heard CMU is really competitive, and people dont get in with those SAT 2 scores at CIT or SCS. There was a whole discussion about this-refer desperation…in international students

Please tell me if i stand a chance at SCS also with those new scores

bump…

Did you apply to only those 4 schools?

I disagree with the percentages given…sorry! I think if you were rejected at CMU engineering early (CMU had 30% increase in applications just this year) then Brown and MIT will be extremely difficult, and CMU-SCS is harder than CMU engineering (don’t know how higher II’s will affect) so that too will be tough. Of course you do have a chance, who knows, but I wouldn’t count on any of these 3.

On the plus side RPI’s an excellent school, just less selective, and I think you’re definitely in there.

Good luck.

ok, thanx a lot!!!
I would like to honestly know why i was rejected at CMU though…i could plug the loop hole
