^ snowball - No, I gathered that you were when you said ‘Genius’. It was more for other members who might be having problems.
When the 3G came out and there was an os upgrade we had a great deal of difficulty that involved iPhone, mobileme, and the mac. With all three systems involved, there was not one single person via phone support that seemed to have knowledge of how they interacted. It seemed really odd to us. I could understand if it was a problem with a PC and the iPhone, but I expected them to know how they worked together. Not so. The Genius at the Apple store had no problem identifying the issue.

Yesterday I mentioned that Apple is "supposedly working on a 4.1 release which will address some of the issues on the 3G ".

Today, there is some confirmation of this in the form of an email supposedly from Steve Jobs to one of Apple’s customers saying that there would be a software update coming soon.

I do find it refreshing that a CEO responds to customer emails directly - I am not aware of any other CEO doing this nearly as often as Steve Jobs does.

We have had problems with iPhone not synchronizing email account information with laptop email account…messages returned via iPhone are not listed in the sent mailbox when email accessed on laptop (PC)…some serious incidents of panic when important messages seemed not to have been delivered, when they had been sent and received. Deletions of messages on laptop does not delete messages in inbox on iPhone. PITA, all in all!

For what it is worth, Apple announced the new version of their software today - should be available for download next week. They specifically said that it fixed the iPhone 3G problems.
