I suffer from bipolar disorder, and I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a professor who is also bipolar. I am curious if anyone has ever had a bipolar professor and am curious what your experience with it was like.
No way of knowing unless he or she discloses his or her mental health status. If bipolar disorder is well treated and the professor is stable then there should be no significant issues. If he or she has functional impairments and is too sick to do the job then there could be problems.
Odds are that most of us have! I never had any problems with anyone, though.
My son’s psychiatrist told me that I would be shocked to know how many psychiatrists have bipolar disorder.
