Have you found any good deals at TJMax?

After just commenting on the “Costco” thread, it made me think of TJ Max. It’s always so crowded when I go. Even my H likes to go. So what “finds” have you found at TJMax? It is different than Costco or BJ’s, yet similar because you may never see the same thing again.

I’ve found some good jewelry deals. I find they have some similar boutique jewelry as QVC but at better prices. Their Israeli silver jewelry for instance. S got some lovely earrings for GF for Christmas.

Can also find some great name brand items at very reduced prices. Have found Ralph Lauren stuff for S and H. I have found some nice handbags (pocketbooks as I was raised to call them). You can find Coach, Dooney and Bourke, MK, etc. No very high end.

What deal did you find?

I recently got a luscious pair of Lucky corduroys for $22 on clearance. I wasn’t clothes shopping for myself but happened to see them as I walked by.

Luggage- especially the wheeled monsters that weigh 50 pounds full for dorm-to-home travel- is well priced; and international travel stuff (electrical adapters, eyeshades/pillows) is handy.

It luggage. A full size suitcase (28-30 inch) that weighs under 5 lb.
All Clad cookware. 50% off Macy’s prices.
Socks and tights.
Pet pillows.
Paige Denim jeans.
A chocolate bar when I bring my loot to the checkout

Half my wardrobe. My professional wear and my fitness wear.

Half my home goods. Sheets, garden pots, utensils and decorative serving pieces.

This weekend, two great work dresses - under $30/each.

Just went last night. Orrefors set of 4 beer glasses $15, retail $50. Orrefors champagne glasses set of 2 $23, retail $100. Most of our clothes and home goods come from TJ’s, Marshalls or Homegoods. I love those stores, I get a chance to purchase nice quality products at a decent price.

Baggalinis. I got three for Christmas presents last year.

Agree on cookware…all of my Analon Pro came from there. Just got my son a $150 stock pot (stainless, 3 or 5 ply…super) on the sale rack for $40. They didn’t have Allclad that day, but what I got was great.

The thing is…if you have a Home Goods near you, the housewares section can be a bit lean.

Not so much for clothing , but I am a frequent shopper at Home Goods ( which shares the same store as TJ Maxx in my area. I buy a lot of kitchen gadgets and things, most of which I give as gifts. I have found some really awesome teas and other specialty food items, candy for stocking stuffers, etc. And I love their Italian and Portugese pottery and platters

=Dooney and Bourke purse (very pink and very perfect)
=H2O shampoo and conditioner (became addicted on a Disney cruise, can’t afford the $20/tube at Ulta so have to get it for $8 at TJ/Marshall’s)
=Shoes (way too many shoes), often Sperry Topsiders
=Underwear and bras
=Spode Christmas china for my sister

I get swome of my exercise stuff there. Also got some great lamps and towels.

Kate Spade purse and lots of career-wear bargains.

W buys a lot of clothings, I only buy home goods, decorations and some times furniture. I won’t buy any food items there, I tried some, mostly were stale goods that. were on the other companies shelf already.

I like very, very fine porcelain coffee mugs. Find them at Homegoods for under $10 each. Sometimes you have to put up with a dowdy design, but it’s sure nice to sip coffee from them…

I found some very tasty olive oil there called Aulio. I’m picky about olive oil and I think it usually tastes a little bit rancid and “off”. I’ve tried Kirkland, big steel cans of oil from Italy, and even domestic oil that gives you the date of the harvest and the bottling with no great luck. I like Spectrum Organic but the Aulio Organic from TJ’s was even tastier! And for $9.99 for 1000 ml it is a great deal.

Just bought a new lamp at HomeGoods–have puchased 3 so far. Bought darling things for Grandson"s bedroom.
Bought new throw pillows for my office which brings me to a point I want to share–
Our TJ’s is in a connecting lot to Homegoods. I bought 2 pilows on sale at HG’s and then went to TJ’s and they had the same pillow for $2 less.
This has happened often. But the up side is that when you need more than the store has there is a chance that the other store will have it.

I have lamps, vases (one Ralph Lauren that had a dept.store sticker for $99 and I paid $19–it was the only one),
lots of sweaters and workout clothes, many polos for H, throw rugs, once bought a sheep skin that could be used as a rug or throw for a wedding gift and it was my neice’s favorite gift. Love TJ’s and HomeGoods.

I have bought a couple of those Ralph Lauren lamps at TJ - and my D bought one - LOVE them!

I’ve found fun sparkly sandals, exercise clothes, a duvet cover in just the right colors, holiday stuff.

But the reason I scour TJM, HG and Marshalls periodically is to find this spice: http://shop.vgourmet.com/Honey-Aleppo-Pepper/p/VIC-00476&c=VictoriaGourmet@SeasoningBlends

If you see it, try it. On chicken, fish, pork, veggies, scrambled eggs. It makes everything taste amazing.

I buy Sarabeth Orange-Apricot marmalade from the Marshall’s/TJ stores. I think they order this regularly as they almost always have it so it isn’t clearance stuff. My favorite and better price than online by a lot.

I think it takes skill, patience and dedication to find nice things at stores like TJ Maxx – skills and qualities I don’t have. My sister can find amazing deals at discount stores but I hate to shop and prefer to go to stores with more predictable inventory and better service, even if the prices are higher.

I am in the same camp as @nottelling, I can never seem to find any “great” buys at stores like TJ Maxx or Ross, every time I came out empty handed, maybe I did not look hard enough or I just couldn’t find the size I needed. I stopped by both stores this weekend, almost bought a yoga mat but couldn’t decide on color lol, indeed the price is much better than that of other stores like Kohls.

Do you think TJ Maxx is better than Ross? I find Ross prices are a bit lower.
