Have you hugged your son today?

jd…I am thoroughly encouraged to read that your son is already out of the hospital and out and about and even taking tests! Wow, that is wonderful news! I just never expected all that so soon and so that is something very positive in all this horrible-ness. And he will graduate and what a wonderful day that will be. So, keep all that in mind as that is what counts the most.

As far as his case…you have gotten good advice here and I would consider consulting lawyers or private detectives and also victim’s rights advocates. But since your son is a college student, wouldn’t the college be concerned about their students and could you see if anyone there could advocate as well?

Try to remember the positive things going on for your son and rejoice that he is recovering so quickly and has his graduation to look forward to. THEN, deal with all this stuff about his case.

Yes, I’m thinking town-gown relations. I’m thinking the word being out to prospective students and parents about the situation. I’m thinking of the school paper taking this on. I really would think the college would have a huge vested interest in pressuring the police to do their job.

I am delighted to hear that S’s mental abilities and eyesight seem fine. I never expected this much recovery so quickly.

If I was still teaching, I’d ask S if he wanted his final grade based on work performed to date, rather than have to do an exam.

It’s great that your son can attend the graduation ceremony!

:: will join posse when formed ::

:: has own pitchfork and torch ::

I second the private investigator idea. If they come up with something and present to police it could be the impetus they need to get cracking on the case.

and remember that judgment is made not only in the courts, but by a higher power and that higher power has a VERY long memory. I really believe in the power of karma

Maybe I have watched too much TV but I also think a private investigator might be a good idea. If the police are no help, could you, um, have the private investigator find one of the perps and he could, um, sue them in civil court? (Again, maybe I have watched too much TV - sorry!)

Thinking of you and your family often jdjaguar and I am so happy your son is up and about.

Thanks for the continued updates, jd.

I thought of you this morning as I received an e-mail from a friend that her dh died this morning. This is the second friend from ds’s school whose husband died this month. And one other last month. So much sad news helps get our priorities straight. Thinking of you and your family in these tough days, but I’m so happy that things are looking up.

Thinking of you and your family every day.

Added you to the prayer lists. Have to admit, did get some strange looks on the name though. Many more prayers coming your way for you and your family for a good recovery, physical and emotional.

I hesitated posting as it seems you guys are all so close, but have followed along. I want to send my best wishes for your family, look with joy at your celebrations. Puts it all in to perspective. P.S. I will join the posse!

jdjaguar: Just sending some positive vibes your way. Anger is a natural reaction to all that has been happening. Don’t fight the anger, just let it flow through to the next emotion.

Peace to your family.

through the grace of god

son

is healing

at the most impossible rate!

your thoughts, your prayers…

have engendered such a sweet path…

bless each and everyone of you!

the glint of his cheerful green eyes unmasked

have warmed my cold.

So glad to hear that, jdjaguar! Continued strong healing to your son!

Wonderful. Just wonderful. Thank you so much for letting us know.

singersmom- although I am not very religious, I love the idea of the “jaguar” family on a prayer list.

JD- what beautiful poetry! Thank you for bringing me a smile.

I’m delighted to hear that S is healing so fast.

You brought tears of relief and joy to my eyes. Such beautiful words.

There you go making me tear up again.

Good tears though. Thank you for sharing this news, and so poetically. I just have this image in my mind now of these smiling green eyes. Lovely.

We are outraged that your darling boy was harmed by those walking this earth without any light in them…

thank you for sharing your son’s cheerful eyes with your fellow parent readers who have felt anguish and outrage for you.

isn’t your son a miracle…to have his spirit so unextinguished, so resiliant? Didn’t you raise someone wonderful, loving, stalwart and even wise…and at such a tender age …

his courage and spirit raises our spirits, too.

we are all so interested in his recovery, whatever shape and path it takes…I think it may surprise and confound us all.

I am very pleased to hear this jd! Your support, and his healthy young body are a wonderful combination. I am sure he feels so loved by his family.
