Thought it might be fun to list new (or new to you) foods or products that you’ve tried and like or dislike. The item(s) do not have to be edible.

I recently tried…

Coach’s Oats - this is oatmeal that has that steel-cut texture, but doesn’t take the long cooking time. Love it. Got it at Costco, but when I went back to buy more, it was gone. :(

Costco (Kirkland) has teamed with Campbells soups to make a Tomato Basil Bisque soup that is pretty good.

I dislike Fig Newtons, but their new Newton’s Fruit Crisps (the cranberry orange ones) are terrific! Great with a cup of coffee!

Still liking that Bounce Dryer Bar that sticks in your dryer so you don’t need dryer sheets!

I recently tried…no calorie salad dressings. They are a little more watery than salad dressings that I’m used to, but being no calorie more than made up for it.

I have just bought my second package of Knorr homestyle concentrated stock. I made two different soups and a sauce using the chicken version and it is delicious. The texture of the glob as it slides out of the little cup is a little offputting, but it melts and reconstitutes beautifully.

Are the fig newton’s fruit crisps better tasting than the special k fruit crisps? I didn’t like the special k ones at all, but gave to my S2. Like the commercial, “he eats everything”! :)

I know, it’s aggrevating to find a product at Costco, only to find it gone when going back to buy more! That happened a few years ago when I found a real gourmet type of spaghetti sauce. I’ve been meaning to try steel cut oats and never have, so maybe I’ll see if our Costco still has the Coach’s Oats.

I normally love tomato basil soup, so I’ll get that, too, while I’m there! Thanks for the suggestions!

Sam’s has these packets of Crystal Light that you use to add flavor to water. They are really, really good. I’m trying to cut way down on soda and these things make my water more enjoyable!

Another very good tomato soup is Trader Joe’s Creamy Organic Tomato. It comes in a box, like a broth box. They make a low sodium version, too, that I haven’t tried.

Our family likes the Target Archer Farms brand low fat yogurt, especially these flavors: pumpkin pie, vanilla maple, and cheesecake. Very delicious and only @170 calories. Much better for me than a pie of pie!

I also like the Costco produce department’s fresh butternut squash precut into cubes.

^LOL. My D fed her little brother some homemade dog biscuits a few years back and he loved them…though we’re not allowed to mention it now that he towers over us.

Downy Unstoppables…goes in the washer but is a “scent booster”, not a softener. Smells good, lasts a long time, and is my new best friend for banishing the wet dog, locker room smell on stuff!

I like Crystal Light also, but I find that the new Wyler’s flavors are more often discounted at the supermarket. Love Wyler’s Lemon Raspberry and Hawaiian Punch. Of course, they’re both sugar free and not as many chemicals as soda. Alas, my doctor says stay away from all artificial sweetners, but what does she know?

I am loving Adora calcium (500 mg/Vitamin D 250 mg/ Magnesium 40 mg) supplements. I get the premium dark chocolate and have one midmorning after my mini-snack (a single scrambled egg, a half muffin with PB, etc.) and then again after dinner. The biggest problem is hiding them from DH who would pop them in his mouth like candy!

I am far more likely to stick with this than ordinary calcium supplements.

One comment before getting back on track. When I was little, the neighbor lady across the street fed me dog biscuits (NOT homemade). She is now my MIL. It’s a favorite family legend.

I just tried the Bounce bar for the first time because I had a coupon from Vocalpoint. It didn’t seem to last very long (could be my dryer IDK). For the money, I would rather just buy the sheets and tear them in half for each load (which I have been doing for years).

I just tried Bavarian Yogurt for the first time. It was new in my local grocery store. I liked it even better than greek yogurt but it is more expensive than Chobani.
