Haven't taken physics

Hi, I am very interested in attending Pomona. However, in reading their website, I noticed that they require having taken physics, chemistry, and biology in order to major in a natural science. Due to being a full diplomma candidate for the International Baccalaureate Program, I have only been able to take Advanced Biology, Advanced Chemistry, AP Biology, and IB Biology HL. Will this put me at an immediate disadvantage for admissions?

Not having taken Physics won’t mean an automatic rejection, and in fact being a full IB diploma candidate probably puts you in the more qualified half of the pool. Pomona knows about the time and dedication required for the IB diploma, and they also know that the IB curriculum is very structured, with rigid requirements. In my opinion, they won’t penalize you for not taking Physics - because you had a very good reason for not doing so. However, I do recommend that you include in your application an explanation like what you have just done in your post - that the IB curriculum structure has prevented you from taking Physics. Good luck and I hope to see you at Pomona next year!

Thanks chopsticks, I will do that!
