Haverford and Dickinson; am I crazy?

Among others, these are two schools I will apply to this fall.
Obviously, these are two very different schools in terms of difficulty to get into.

Which way am I leaning; H or D?

thoughts?

No to Haverford. Dickinson? Probably a large reach as well.

I disagree with Jman, I think you’d be in at Dickinson for sure, and possibly Haverford as well, but your math SAT score needs work. Your EC’s are a bit lacking, too, but I don’t think you’ll fare too badly in the admissions process. Work on keeping your GPA up senior year, try to improve your test score a bit, and I think you’ll be in at both.

harsh Jman21. I thought, judging by stats, Dickinson was a fairly sure bet.

of course, the package looks better when it’s not laid out there like a laundry list. I’m sure I’ve got awesome recs and will have good essays…atleast thats a strong point.
SAT math…lets not even go there. it matches up with my math career

Umm…not trying to be harsh at all. If I came across so then I truly apologize.

I should describe why I thought and said what I said:
SAT: 2140 which is probably spot on for Dickinson and a little low for Haverford.

GPA: I dont see an overall GPA just A’s/B’s so I dont know how to compare that.

The 3 on the Bio hurts and the ECs aren’t amazing…but maybe I was wrong about Dickinson. I probably should have said “match” with Dickinson and a moderate reach at Haverford.

I would apply to a couple other schools as well. Again, if I knew the GPA I could really comment better, but I would say (I will amend the earlier comment) moderate reach for Haverford and match for Dickinson.

the avg accepted sat for dickinson is 1321…i have a 1390 with my crappy math score. they wont be able to resist my reading and writing

first years is 1275…

Then you already have your answer about Dickinson…I know the most about Haverford out of the two (as I have friends to attend there) and so my opinion stands with Haverford. It’s a moderate reach school.

Edit: and by moderate reach it means its not a huge reach and probably closer to a match than a huge reach school (thus the normal definition of moderate…between two extremes).

Well, what is your gpa, F,S, or J overall? That can make the big difference. You are in the running for Haverford, but it is a very selective school and not a sure thing for anyone. Dickenson is more likely. I think if H is your first choice for sure and you don’t need fin aid, go for it ED if your grades are good. You can apply to D as EA (if they still are doing this) as a back up. If you are deferred from both, you better start looking for a more likely school for entry. If you are in H, you are committed whether you get in D or not. If you get into D, you have your safety , can look around a bit more in case there are other schools, and if deferred at H, you can wait to see how you do in the RD round with it. It is win, win all the way.

I do suggest you look for a third school that is very likely to take you that can be your safety as well, just in case you are left hanging in Dec if you go that route. Not a good way to go into the holiday season. So look for a good safety school, preferable one that will let you know quickly if you are accepted.

ok that makes me feel better haha.
i know its quite a stretch.
