We are seeing kids post that they have already committed to Haverford for this team or that for the incoming class fall of 2025. Is this an indication that they have already been admitted? I thought athletes had to actually go through the early decision process and those results don’t get released until December. I think NESCAC schools may be somehow different and do actually admit athletes earlier than the non-athletes applying early decision. I may be wrong about that, however.
They haven’t been admitted yet, but they likely passed a pre-read w/ admissions, have the coach’s full support thru the admission process, and verbally committed to the coach (which likely requires an ED app.)
Some students will publicize their ‘commitment’ or ‘commitment to the admissions process’ (hopefully they are only doing that with a coach’s ok), but they aren’t officially accepted until they receive notice of admission in Dec (if applying ED.)
NESCAC schools work the same way.
