For those wondering about the specifics of the harassment:

“In other messages, Ha allegedly called Jewish people “blood sucking demons,” used a common antisemitic abbreviation for “Heil Hitler” and warned the victim to “watch” his underaged son.”

There were many - these were just some of them. Some referenced “special camps” for Jews and “cleansing” Lower Merion of Jews.

He also posted the victim’s home address, his infant child’s name, a photograph of the family’s mailbox. Twice, the victim’s spouse and their three children went to stay with relatives out of fear of being attacked, according to prosecutors. (NYT article)

Mind boggling that a professor of anything would do this, much less a professor of religion.

These were amongst the mildest. He also wrote things that were 10^1000 more heinous.

As to the target of the intimidation, the New York Times stated, “The person is a Jewish faculty member, according to three people who know the person and who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they wanted to preserve the person’s privacy.”

Holy cow, that’s a lot of hate bottled up in one person! Hopefully he will be fully investigated - I’d be concerned that he would channel that hate beyond campus at some point. It just doesn’t magically go away.

I’m not surprised that he started on X, since he could probably publicly post the worst of his comments publicly on X and he wouldn’t even have to take the comments down. I would would not be surprised if his account is still fully active in X, and I would actually be surprised if and steps have been taken by X to prevent him from using X to stalk, threaten, and otherwise harass Jews.
