Having problem with graduation

Hello everyone.
I am having trouble to graduate this semester because i just found out that my college requires me to take extra classes for focus studies which i have never heard or told of untill today. The hunter college requires students to take focus study courses or foreign language courses. I was exempted from foreign language and now in my DIG account it says i need to take extra 3 courses for hunter focus studies.

I was never told or heard of this before and even when i went to ask for help to advising office. When i checked my DIG account few weeks ago, it did not have this requirement and now it appeared from nowhere.

Because of it i dont think i can graduate this semester. If they at least let me know about this at the begining of this semester i could have taken those classes and done.

Please help me out. Tell me what i can do. I am so tired and depressed right now that i dont know what i might do to myself. I am so fed up with this college and its requirements.

If i knew about this a semester or year ago i could have taken those classes but it never appeared on my DIG account as requirement and i was never told.

Why are you asking people who have nothing to do with the school? Call the advising office first thing in the morning, or do whatever else you have to do to set up an appointment with them.

You need to do more than check your online account – you should be looking at the general graduation requirements for your college and the specific ones for your major (all on the college website, I am sure) and tracking those against your credits. You could look at that tonight, and go see someone or call advising tomorrow morning.

You seem to have had several problems navigating the requirements of the College, but unfortunately as @bodangles pointed out, nobody on CC can really help: your advisor is the best person to talk through where you stand and what your options are.

Nobody here can help you. Talk to your college advisor and sort it out. Ultimately it is the student’s responsibility to know the graduation requirements and be sure to meet them. If you did not look at the requirements before and it takes you an extra semester to do that, then that it what you have to do. Instead of being depressed about your situation, just be exactly sure what you need to do and get it done.

  1. Go on to your college website and look for graduation requirements. They are spelled out somewhere.
  2. You are usually grandfathered into the grad req. for when you started school…so see if they changed them recently and accidently are applying them to you
  3. Talk to your academic adviser (you have one, even if you don’t use them)…if you don’t know whose your is, walk to the department office for your major and ask.
  4. Did you do a graduation audit last semester to make sure you were all set for what you needed?
