Having trouble deciding a major at NYSH

I was accepted to NYUSH on a huge 43,000 dollar/year scholarship. However my major of choice was mechanical engineering and it isn’t offered there. Now I have till March 11th if I want to attend and I won’t be hearing back from other schools till April 1st. Because of the money I feel I shouldn’t take a risk with hoping to get money at other schools in April. I want to attend NYUSH but I’m left wondering if it will be the best decision for my career. I planned to study mechanical engineering and then work with oil refining and petroleum, after a few years of working I aim to get an MBA degree so that I have a wider range of opportunities in business, engineering and engineering management. My ideal possibilities would be banking, engineering management or perhaps setting up my own business and manufactering a product.

The majors I would choose at NYUSH are;

  • Physics
  • Electrical engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Business Finance

For me career plan, which would work best since mechanical is not an option.
Taking finance will be great, since there are countless internship opportunities close to the campus. It’s in the wallstreet of shanghai. Electrical would give me a good balance later, problem solving and creative skills like mechanical but I’m not sure how exactly how much designing would happen opposed to mechanical. Lastly Physics would provide a great base for engineering but in terms of business I don’t see any real benefit.

Lastly does an NYU degree in engineering hold the same weight as one in Duke, USC or Rose-Hulman, I know their business degree would be very well respected but was unsure with engineering since the NYU polytechical school ranking isn’t too high.

Please Give me any opinions you guys have, very much appreciated.
