<p>Is there anywhere in Ithaca that I can shop at to buy hookahs/bongs/pipes/etc? Purely for perfectly legal tobacco purposes, of course… Would it be better just bringing my own up to Ithaca (I’m afraid of my parents seeing it while packing, though I can probably sneak it around them), or should I just wait and buy something new up there? Also, Are they terribly overpriced? What would your average prices be? </p>
<p>Furthermore, could anyone here tell me about the different dorms on North Campus? Like what are the different dorms known for? Where would I go to find the most laid-back fun crowd, as opposed to the popped-collar crowd? Just like a description/dicussion about the different dorms would be awesome. </p>

<p>You cannot pick your north campus dorm unless it is a program house. The descriptions of those in the program houses are self explanitory by the program house names/programs. For example “Just About Music” (JAM) is for Musicians…</p>
<p>This topic has really been beaten to death in the two application years i’ve been on this board. A simple search for “dorm” would have gotten you the dorm answer you wanted and saved the efford of everyone who now will reply to you.</p>
<p>i’m not sure about prices, but ithaca is a big hippie town. There’s two or three shops in the commons that sell all of that stuff, just look for the big painted pot leaf.</p>
<p>Yea, there are places to buy your <em>cough</em> tobacco paraphenelia…My friend bought a hookah up there, but I’m not sure about the prices. You can always haggle with headshop salespeople anyways. If you want a social dorm, you would want to be placed in Donlon or Dickson. The housing people don’t really discriminate between laid back and popped collar when making dorm assignments, however ;).</p>
<p>Some people smoke in the dorms, it’s probably not a wonderful idea though, since the smell of pot tends to linger. You can smoke hookah 25 feet away from the dorm, if it’s tobacco. If not, it’s probably not the best idea to smoke it infront of the dorm in a huge device like a hookah ;).</p>
<p>the best places to buy pieces/bongs/etc. is the Hemp shop on the Ithaca Commons. all their pieces, which were really nice i might add, were 15 dollars. the bongs and hookas obviously were more but they were very competitively priced when compared to the other head shop in the commons and the place that spartacus talked about in collegetown</p>

<p>So about that smoking in the dorm rooms…do they really honestly care? Like, I stayed with a friend at NYU, and the halls ABSOLUTELY REEK. Holy crap, you could get hotboxed just walking through them It was wonderful, nobody cared. I also hit up this fun room party where everyone was just sittin around with a hookah and lighting up and, well, is there stuff like that at Cornell? Will there essentially be open houses (or should I say open dorms) to just go, smoke a bowl, and chill out in? Would Risley perhaps be more conducive to that sort of activity? </p>

<p>Yes, they actually care…if it’s just a whiff and your RA is cool she might not write you up for “tobacco paraphenalia” use in your room, but if it reeks or she happens to be walking around with her superior (i.e. the RHD, this happened actually, to my friend/with my very chill RA), she’ll have no choice. Also, if it’s obvious, that’s also grounds for getting written up. Just go outside, to Theta Delta Chi aka “Thumpty” aka Theta Drug, or to an upperclassman friend’s house.</p>

<p>If you like smoking that much you’ll take that risk, I assume ;). Some people do it…you can smell it in the hallway…I guess it depends on your proximity to the RA and the coolness of your RA.</p>
<p>A pothead sorority…I’d imagine everyone there would perpetually have the munchies, due to the high concentration of pot and potheads, leading to the freshman 50. Just a speculation.</p>
