<p>Are Canadians covered by the almighty canadian health insurance or do we have to pay for Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)?</p>
<p>In order to opt of Cornell’s health insurance plan, your current policy must meet all of the following criteria:</p>
<ol>
<li><p>Be provided by a company licensed to do business in the U.S., with a U.S. claims payment office and U.S. phone number.</p></li>
<li><p>Provide coverage in the Ithaca area for outpatient and inpatient medical care (a policy providing “emergency care only” in Ithaca is not acceptable).</p></li>
<li><p>Provide outpatient and inpatient mental health care in the Ithaca are.</p></li>
<li><p>Have a maximum benefit of at least $500,000 per year.</p></li>
<li><p>Remain in force for as long as you are a registered student at Cornell.</p></li>
<li><p>Cover pre-existing conditions</p></li>
