<p>Just want to know how other select medical insurance for their freshman.</p>
<p>We live in California and has “Health Net” but it doesn’t cover Durham/NC area, it does covers emergency visit. </p>
<p>Do we need to buy the whole Duke student insurance plan then? or is there any supplement one we can buy?</p>
<p>I believe Duke requires you to have coverage in Durham if you want to use your own insurance. I don’t think Duke offers a supplemental insurance plan for cases such as yours. </p>
<p>In any case, if you only have emergency coverage, you’d need a supplemental plan with almost the same amount of coverage as the regular plan in order to match all the benefits of the latter.</p>
