Just today, I have gotten six or seven phone calls about health insurance because supposedly I’ve asked for more information someplace. No I haven’t. Neither my husband, nor I have made any requests for health insurance information. Both of us will be continuing with the plans we had for 2018…we don’t even have to fill out a form.
Anyone else getting these calls…and yes, we are on the do not call list…waste of time.
I’m also getting these calls in my cell phone. I’ve blocked at least 20 numbers in the last couple of weeks.
I get these multiple times a day. Always look like they are coming from a local area code. Block the number and they grab a new one.
About two weeks ago I held for information to tell them to stop calling and THEY hung up on ME :-c
The have maybe slowed down since then but they have not stopped.
I’ve never hung on long enough to tell them to stop. The start of these calls all sound recorded. Do real people get on in the end?
And yes…on my cell, when I block one number…they just “call from” a different one…always in my area code, and always one town over. Believe me when I say…I KNOW there are no health insurance companies in the town where the calls are coming from. ?
This is so annoying. I don’t even answer my phones any longer unless the call is from somebody already in my contacts. One time I got a call from my own number! 8-|
Interesting. I do get health insurance through the exchange and haven’t received any calls at all. I do get email reminders about signing up for next year both from healthcare.gov and my current insurance provider.
I don’t think I’m getting calls (but the phone speaks out the caller id and I don’t answer. Lately, my phone says “spam” in front of any number I ignored x times already.)
But am getting emails and junk mail. In fact, have been off BCBS for 2 or 3 years and they still send me emails that I have a note to read in my account. Way overdue that they should realize I left.
My plan for next year actually went down a few dollars/month, although a few serices jumped a few dollars. Not changing.
These are scammers trying to sell you scam insurance. They didn’t get your name from any reputable business; rather, they got your phone number the same way all the other junk callers got it.
I get multiple calls each day, sometimes from a familiar area code, but not always. I also get email reminders from healthcare.gov and my current insurance carrier. I know what to do and when the deadlines are. Please leave me alone .The calls are all on my cell (I no longer have a landline), so I’m not sure how they got my number. DH doesn’t get these calls, but I’m the one who does all the health insurance research.
I don’t actually receive these calls but I get a record of the calls coming in. On my cell some are automatically blocked by the “Call Protect” app, and occasionally there is a call that comes through, but I never pick up if I don’t recognize the number from caller ID. My former landline now goes direct to Google Voice – and there are a ton of calls going there but none of the junk callers ever leaves a message. No message left, no call back, obviously.
Anybody legit who wants to reach me will leave a message.
I have had some calls re Medicare stuff from random agents, who do leave messages - but it is very possible that I did sign something online requesting more info over the past several months — although everything is now squared away with Medicare. (yay!) But bottom line, the scammers or robocallers can call all they want but I won’t pick up.
There are a ton of similar calls that peaked right before the election - but I am guessing there were a bunch of political calls mixed in there as well.
Yes! Yes! These calls are driving me crazy. I get several a day. Checking my recent calls, I see 7 in the last 2 days. Only one is from my area code. 4 are from California, 1 is from Virginia, and 1 is from Long Island. I’ve blocked all the numbers. I feel like I’m playing junk call whack-a-mole.
My father died a month ago, but I’m still monitoring his phone. Today there was a call and honestly, I did not understand one word the guy was saying. I had him repeat it and I got “Michael” and “medicare” out of it. I asked if he was calling about changing the medicare provider and he said yes. Oh, I said, he died. Click.
So just try that, and say you died. Might get you off some lists.
Well, answering the phone and saying, “I died” probably won’t work. It’s a good reason why people who answer the phone shouldn’t identify themselves in any way until after ascertaining the point of the call, however.
Though I still favor not answering calls from unrecognized numbers in the first place.
You have some options for “do not disturb” mode for your cell phone-- you cans set it to only accept calls from numbers in your contact list – so that pretty much cuts out most of the unknown callers.
We don’t answer our phone any more unless we know the number. I have decided if someone wants to talk to us, they can leave a message. Only a few diehard spammers are actually annoying enough to leave a message.
