Health Savings Account/Student Loan on CSS Profile

Two Questions:

Is the balance in our HSA reported as an asset on the CSS Profile? I’m debating between adding it to PA-120 or leaving it off completely.

Don’t understand whether son’s student loan balances should be included. Here is what it says on the Profile instructions:

"Q: I am the student and have debts. Where should I report that information on the application?

A: Student debts should be explained in Section ES."

So…does everyone send an additional piece of paper with this information?

Good questions- I totally forgot about my d’s loan (she’s a freshman). Don’t have any answers but I posted a question about combat pay. They ask for the $ amount received but from officers only. We’re not in the military and didn’t answer question, but profile says we have to. If you don’t mind my asking, if you are not in the military, how did you answer this?

I answered by putting a zero in that box.

Thanks! It’s interesting that that question wasn’t on last year’s profile.

I recall working with a student who had a parent with combat pay, and we had to do something different with it … can’t remember exactly what the deal was, but it was not something I had seen before. I had to look it up in the regs.

As far as I know, the balance in your HSA does not have to be reported.
