Share how you do it??

I basically make the recipe you posted, but sprinkle 1-2 tbs of almond flour (I eye it up and stop as soon as the dough can hold together and isn’t so sticky). I preheat the air fryer (lined with parchment) to 375 and place two cookie balls on there, then gently depress with a fork. Bake for about 10 minutes (or less - definitely open the basket and check along the way, as if you use chocolate chips they can burn easily in there). The hardest part is allowing them to cool long enough to really set before eating.

one more note, I’m not sure if it matters but I always use thawed frozen banana rather than fresh. I always seem to have a freezer full (I put them in there as soon as they start turning brown) and they are my banana bread and “banana instead of eggs and oil with cake mixes” stash.

We don’t eat a lot of canned goods. But it can be nice to have some available in the pantry.

I always have canned beans. I do prefer using dried, usually lentils since easier. Yesterday I made a good lentil soup, including a chopped broccoli stalk that was too good to throw away. Had some hot-ish peppers in the freezer that gave it some good flavor.

I am really liking these IQ bars. (Ours I think from Sam’s, but available many places). Soft and tasty. 12g plant protein, 10g total carbs, 1g sugar, 8g fiber, 170 calories.

Americans are Cutting Back on Snacking

Article is a bit misleading, as Americans are actually cutting back on prepackaged snacks.

I’ve never been much of a consumer of these types of things, for a few reasons (dietary, economic and environmental concerns), but whatever the reason for the trend, I think it can only bode well for our population’s overall health.

I admit to being a “chip” lover. And darn Doritos keeps coming out with new flavors I “have” to try! :winking_face_with_tongue:

But I also admit that I am limiting crunchy snacks I buy to what Costco carries and then only buying one variety at a time. The price of a bag of chips at a regular store is ridiculous - and the bags have shrunk in size by ounces!!!

I mean, the upside is you’re being a good patriot and stimulating the economy

I do love a salty potato chip, too (especially if sour cream and onion dip is involved). I just don’t happen to buy them. But plop me down at a gathering where someone has put them out? I might as well pull up a seat to the snack table

I have a new favorite chip - Wilde protein chips salt and vinegar flavor. Their other flavors are also great (especially if you like spicy) - I love sour so buffalo is my 2nd favorite (kid2 prefers the sweeter chicken&waffles flavor). If you don’t like the taste of chicken you might find them not to your liking. Costco usually carries one flavor in a huge bag; at nice regular grocery stores they are in smaller bags.

Same. I just love salt. We can’t have chips/snacks in the house for this reason. But do invite me over…

The buffalo chicken are in rotation here. Mostly for my son who wants high protein snacks. They’re yummy.

We don’t buy potato chips for the house (except for special football games). So I’m one who really enjoys them at a party.

I do like salty crunch. Sometimes I have dried seaweed from TJ or harvest snaps (dried peas).

We don’t buy many pre-packaged snacks at our house.
But a weird fact… If I buy little packages, my husband (and his brother) will eat MANY of them. They seem to LOVE the little packages. I don’t know if they were deprived as children or what, but their sisters don’t have that problem :).
When the kids were here, we had much more “junk” around, but we are trying to be healthier. Sometimes I will buy the Smartpop popcorn in little bags from Costco. I often use a box as a stocking stuffer or filler present for my husband’s stocking/other occasion. If I buy the huge one Costco sells, he won’t touch it.

The article about cutting down snacks got me thinking. There are folks here and friends/family who now do IF (intermittent fasting, only eating 6 to 10hours a day) or many healthy mini-meals throughout the day. They’d do less snack food, but probably not big impact to national averages.

I suspect a bigger factor is the cost of food. After paying for the basics, many families probably have much money left over for snacks. That could be a good thing nutritionally. But… I worry they might not have enough money for enough fresh produce and protein. I volunteer at a huge local, biweekly drive-thru food pantry. Happily we often have some nice bags of produce (this week I spent 3 hours helping to break down big containers into bags of fresh carrots, celery, lemons; other groups did apples etc and potatoes; also collards optionally offered this week). Alas, most weeks we have minimal meat. It all depends on what the county organization has donated from supermarkets.

I’m a very good intermittent faster, it works with my nature. However, I am a glutton for food (punishment too)! I don’t necessarily eat unhealthy, but can out eat almost anyone I know. We had plenty of food growing up but I only have brothers and sons and guess I was always fighting for my share. I know all the ways to manage portion control, but actually doing it when you are in the middle of dinner after YOU cooked all, is sometimes (often times) (most times), more than I can handle! This is my focus this year, portion control.

So I finally got the hang of it after many attempts. Flourless banana pancakes. I wasn’t using anything to really bind it. I used some old fashion oats and that did the trick. I used a pinch of baking powder also. I don’t cook so this is a big deal for me.. Lol.

But they finally look and taste like pancakes. This was one banana and two eggs. They are very filling. I use cinnamon and have crushed walnuts prior. Yeah me.. :joy::pancakes:

So you’re talking about chips. I saw these at Costco and walked away since I would eat the whole thing. Word on the street is they are awesome. Combine with a Michigan Cherry beer. Yum

From experience, those chips are ADDICTING. I love a good salty snack and can be pretty good about limiting my serving but I’m going to enjoy them to the crumbs in the bottom!

Did you pulverize the oats first or use as they come?

I have been making waffles using some of my sourdough discard. Today I mixed the discard with an egg, buttermilk, a big spoon of whole milk yogurt, a little oil and then I use Kodiak protein pancake mix to get the consistency I want. For me it’s about the toppings. Today in addition to a drizzle of maple syrup I topped with fresh blueberries, dried cherries, a nut mixture of sliced almonds, pumpkin seeds and pecans. Then my trick is to take my package of Costco thick bacon from the freezer (it’s more like a stack of pieces, not side by side pieces) and shave off some very thin small pieces which I quickly sauté to become like bacon bits - but no added preservatives, salt,e tc. Just use probably less than a tablespoon of these on top. Sweet, a little salty but also some actual nutrition in the fruit, nuts, yogurt, protein mix, egg and buttermilk. Very satisfying!

Yum on what you made. Before I just used elbow grease with a fork. Today I blended everything. So much better this way
