how sufficient is the heating in dorms (specifically allison hall)? Down comforter = overkill?

I don’t know how it is now, but I lived there about 30 years ago and it was well-heated. Except for those days of ice storms when we lost power…

Very well-heated. So well-heated in fact that we would sometimes open the windows in the dead of winter (although you’re not supposed to do that because your water pipes will freeze and then explode). But yeah, down comforter is definitely not necessary.

I lived there 07-08 and it was pretty warm. I like having my comforter, but I definitely didn’t need it. All dorms are sufficiently heated that you don’t need to start getting insulated high-class stuff. Save the money/space/quality for stuff when you’re outside.

There is nothing more valuable than a big, puffy Timberland jacket or a high-quality NorthFace.
