HEC Montreal - Accounting

Hi, I want to become a CPA in Quebec. For the education requirements, I need to complete all required university courses and some of them are graduate courses.

The most straightforward way is:
BBA (specialization in accounting) → Post-Graduate Diploma in accounting for CPA → CPA

I wouldn’t mind taking this path, but I’m also really interested in most of the courses in BBA (specialization in business analysis and IT). In this case, I would have to get an university certificate in accounting to complete the required accounting courses that I would miss.
To leave university with no regrets and to keep my options open, I’m thinking of taking this path:

BBA (specialization in business analysis and IT) → Certificate in accounting → Post-Graduate Diploma in accounting for CPA → CPA.

This would add a minimum of 1 extra year of studying to my life essentially. Note that I would be doing all this within HEC Montreal who has already accepted me into the BBA. I am fluent in french and planning to stay in Quebec.

I would like to know your thoughts on this. Would this be a smart move or a waste of time?
