<p>I just bought a printer for my dorm room in Hedrick Summit and I made sure to get one that wasn’t wireless because I remembered having to use an ethernet cable to plug in my laptop in another res hall during orientation. Does Hedrick Summit have a wireless connection I can use on my laptop inside the dorm room? Should I exchange my printer for a wireless one or stay with the one I have?</p>

<p>No definitely use a hard connection between your computer and printer. Wireless isn’t ubiquitous in the res hall rooms yet (IIRC). Even if it were, you wouldn’t be able to set up your printer on the wireless network because of how UCLA has it set up. Even if STC would register its MAC address on your subnet (which I doubt they would do - they only register game consoles, etc.), everyone else on your floor would be able to connect to it as a network printer.</p>
<p>Sorry to derail the thread a bit, but does anyone know how many network ports there are in a Hedrick Summit triple? I can find the ports behind the freestanding tables but I can’t find the one under the loft. Thanks!</p>
