HEFAR group: anybody use them?

Stands for Higher Education Financial Aid Resources. Seems to be a AZ and CA thing that is free with the hope of getting one to use their financial services down the line. Looks to be a division of Geneva Financial Services. Many parents I know in AZ have “used” them for scholarship assistance etc. Don’t know results of their interactions. To be frank, I’m a bit skeptical they can “do” very much of anything. It’s at hefar.org

Experiences?

Hefar is a division of a company that sells financial services, such as mortgages, retirement planning, investments, insurance, etc. In other words, they make their money shifting YOUR hard earned assets into high commission products to “lower your EFC”. BEWARE. If you want pure college admissions and financial aid counseling, go with a “fee for service” company. And always…do your research. In life, usually, if you mess up, you have a chance for a “re-do”, but not when you lose massive amounts of money approaching retirement.
