Helo Make This Possible, Please?

Hello everyone,
I know this is only my second post and I hope that doesn’t interfere with getting feedback from all of you. This is a question regarding possibly transferring from UCSC to UCLA. First off, I’d like to mention that I have already tried seeking information with my department adviser, my academic adviser and the career center (for information about graduate school). Secondly, I’d like to point out that I have nothing against UCSC, I love it here but am kind of forced to take such action. With that said, here’s the breakdown of my situation:

I am currently a first year attending UCSC. I would like to someday attend and an Aerospace Engineering Graduate Program. There are a couple problems, however. UCSC does not offer an undergraduate program in that particular field or any really relevant program to Aerospace Engineering. At one point I even thought of majoring in Robotics Engineering with a minor in Physics or Astrophysics and seeing if I could get into an AEGP that way but I would be risking it too much. Like I stated earlier, I talked to advisers and one piece of advice that really stuck to me came from my academic adviser who told me that my best bet would probably be to transfer to a different UC, one that offers an Aerospace Engineering Undergraduate Program or a Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Program as it can easily be applied to Aerospace Engineering. My adviser then talked to me about UC Reciprocity (getting all my GEs completed at UCSC) and how it would need to be done by spring quarter of my sophomore year if I was looking to transfer. There must be other things I need to do besides completing my GEs prior to applying, but what? I was thinking I would possibly need to complete their pre-recs for that particular field but how do I go about seeing what UCSC classes can be transferred to UCLA and fulfill the lower-divisional courses for their aerospace program. Or do I not need to complete the lower-divisional courses at UCSC meaning I would be attending UCLA still needing to complete lower and upper-divisional courses (which doesn’t seem right). What other things would I need to do in these two years here at UCSC to increase my chances of being accepted?

I hope I didn’t confuse any of you. Any information/tips/advice will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, everyone.

pre-reqs for prospective transfer engineering majors at UCLA:

[Transfer Preparation - Engineering Majors - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/seasmajs.htm)

to see which classes are transferrable, use assist.org. it only shows classes that are transferrable to UCs from community colleges, but you can try to find matching classes at UCSC. sorry if this part didnt make sense

I actually browsed through that page multiple times but always hit the aerospace link without reading any of the information on the bottom. Thanks! :)

Okay, so I have to complete all of me GEs and prerecs. How am I suppose to take the prerecs for UCLA’s Aerospace Program when my school doesn’t offer that major? Or are the prerecs the ones on the link @perfect36 put up? That would make more since the “prerecs” listed on the website are generalized and give room to fulfill them with a variety of classes.

Sorry if I sound annoying/n00bish, I’m just trying to get this all cleared up before I start choosing classes for next quarter.

Get in touch with a UCLA Counselor

yea man all of the classes listed on the page are the classes that they expect you to complete. basically just general ed classes- physics, chem, calculus, etc…

many of the students who transfer are from community colleges that don’t offer actual aerospace engineering classes. i think that students who are at UCLA don’t even begin taking the aerospace classes until they finish the GEs listed above.

Will do, thanks. I actually called them up a couple of days ago but that was regarding what I should major in to be considered for their graduate program. Now I intend to do something different (transfer as an undergrad).

I’m still confused, so the things listed on that website you put up are GEs? Or prerecs? I’m thinking of doing UC Reciprocity so I can tackle ALL my GEs here at UCSC and have them transfer over to UCLA.
