I’m in pretty much the same boat except Writing and CR are flipped.

I need math help :(

Writing is probably the easiest to improve. You’re in a very good position because CR is usually very difficult to improve, and you don’t have that hurdle.

For CR take a look at Sparknotes’ Seven Deadly Screw-Ups, which should raise your score to at least 700. If you also practice the essay a bit you can get it to mid 700s by the next sitting.

For Math, just do loads of practice papers and try to look at the questions you’re getting wrong - that’ll give a good indication of where you need to improve. I hear Gruber’s is good for math.

Don’t worry too much - you’re in a good position.

Do any of you know where I can go to get help on the Math section? I’m having difficulty with the functions and some of the more abstract integer problems.

Post your questions here (not necessarily in this thread).

Wow, man, really uneven! Thankfully you’ve got the hardest one to improve mastered. All I can say for writing is blue-book it. Learn every type of error and do so many examples that you automatically tune yourself to look for that error when you take the test. That’s how I got better - it’s like chess. If you continually play it, your eye for strategic moves becomes sharper. If you stop playing, you get worse.

hmm, thanks.
bump, any other help?

For math help, I suggest buying the Kaplan Math work book. It has 18 problem sets that is divided by skill. I would try to answer the questions on each problem set, look at explanations for those you guessed at or missed, and then once you finish all of the problem sets, go back and repeat everything again. If you work diligently this could take about 2 weeks to do. Now I am a big advocate of the Xiggi Method, but Kaplan does an excellent job making sure that you don’t have holes in any given subject area of math. For practice questions, of course, only use BB.

I used this method for math and went from 650-790.

For math, get Gruber’s book; it’s got a comprehensive review that will help you strengthen your weaknesses. After working through Gruber’s I think the best way to improve your math score is just to work through bluebook SATs and go slowly through the math section. If there’s a math question that stumble on, work at it by yourself (without time constraints) until you get the right answer. Then, go to khan academy (google it). They have youtube videos that have worked out every single math question in the bluebook in great detail.

I pretty much followed this method and I’m scoring around an 800… I just have avoid making those stupid mistakes!
