I’m applying for a selective humanities/social science program, and they ask for 3 research/study experiences. I don’t have much formal experience at all, but do know quite a bit from informal experiences.
I can include school research projects, so I included an anthology project on France in my English class, but worded it as “research on French literature, culture, and philosophy”, done for 2 semesters, this school year, etc. All of these elements are included, but is this dishonest in that it’s not really saying what it is?
I also had a brief project last year (less than a semester for sure, but still took a fairly long time) that was on Fahrenheit 451, which I put down as “research on propaganda and dystopian literature” for 1 semester, last school year, etc. This, I feel is stretching the truth quite a bit, but I honestly have nothing else to put down. Should I keep this on the application?
I have nothing else for a 3rd research experience, which troubles me.
There is no personal statement, so I can’t include anything about informal research. I regularly read books on philosophy, psychology, and keep up with current events, but I can’t mention it anywhere. I also take/have taken a couple MOOC’s on Coursera (illegally, given that I’m not 18, ) ;)) on/relating to the humanities - do you think that would work, even if it’s technically not legal?
