Help!! Attire question for networking event

My son has been invited to a “candidate networking event” for a sales trainee position. It is being held at the Philadelphia fFlyers stadium. They will get a tour, listen to presentations and watch the game. Email says “Dress attire is casual with a business professional top”

What is that? He is planning on slacks with a long sleeve shirt and tie and dress shoes. He does not own a sport coat, only a grey pinstripe suit that could probably use some tailoring.

The event is tomorrow evening and he has work all day. Buying a sport coat for this one event is not really an option due to budget etc. they just sent out the email confirming attendance this afternoon.

He is fine with his decision, but I wanted to run it by you guys because I always over think things and why should this be different?

Sounds perfect to me. No hat (I’m sure he wouldn’t but you’d be surprised!). What is he wearing for a coat? If he doesn’t have something that’s nicer than a casual parka, could he borrow one from a friend for the evening? (Or maybe it’s warmer in Philly than it is here!)

I think it’s in the 80’s today in Philly. So jealous. But it is cold in the hockey arena, but more like sweater or fleece weather than coat weather.

Anyways, his attire sounds perfect.

Yes, I think he’s right on the money. If they were expecting jackets, they probably would have said coat and tie.

He’ll likely see a lot of people in designer jeans, dress shirt and tie even. I would think his choice is good.

I’m glad you all agree shirt and tie is fine. He has a fleece type jacket from Express that is sort of structured…not a hoodie type thing. He can bring that.

It was in the 80’s yesterday and today. It was some nice feeling like it was summer, tomorrow is back to reality, around 60 or so.

My little dog hated the heat. On her walk she kept looking to stop in the shady spots. Her boyfriend did too. He is a yorki and she is a yorkiepoo and they seem to kiss and hug some call him her boyfriend. It made me remember how come it’s easy to gain weight once it gets hot, we hide in the house.

Just make sure it is not Cutco or other home marketing program.

It’s ok! It not selling knives or books door to door. This is a real company that my SIL actually worked for years ago. They sell computers, hardware, software supplies, electronics, technology stuff etc. There are a lot of companies out there to be careful of, that’s for sure.

Wish he’d taken a major designed to et him a specific job, like accounting, architecture, engineering etc, but he wasn’t into the math and sciences so he will probably be stuck starting in sales, hopefully headed to management. Or, if he has his way, opening his own business.
