Help- Christmas present for impossible to buy for 29 year old

Normally, my sister tells me exactly what she wants but this year she’s being a PITA about it. When asked she responds with “black pug” (I am not buying her a dog) and fitbit (which my parents got her).

I’m looking in the ~$100 range.

She is 29, single (depending on the day), and loves to travel. She has worked her butt off since she was 15 and really has everything she wants- which is what makes this difficult. Normally she’ll tell me to get a designer purse or something and she will send me a link to it.

I used to just get her gift cards to Starbucks but I figure I should branch out a little.

I really don’t even know where to start. Clothes and shoes are out because she’s picky about them. She likes electronics and has a quirky personality. She is much “girlier” than I am but still very much a tomboy. The only thing she loves in life is her aging pug (who I also will shop for… but the pug is much easier to buy for!). She’s also a fan of horror and aspires to be an actress/stand up comedian.

Help??

Well, how about if you don’t come up with anything—instead of a gift card to Starbucks, how about a gift card to a store where she could get clothes, shoes, or electronics? Then she could pick them, and at least you have something.

Matching PJ’s for her and her pug? For our kids we always do matching PJ’s for Christmas eve. This year I splurged and went through pajamagram.com and found that they had matching dog night shirts and dog beds too.

How about a beautiful pair of cashmere gloves, or a cashmere scarf? I found some beauties this year for around $100.

She may be picky about clothes, but something soft and warm might be appreciated as winter approaches.

If she wants a Fitbit, maybe get a lululemon jacket she could wear when she’s active or exercising.
Even a picky person would love the fabric they use!

@busdriver11 good idea if nothing else. Hopefully this thread can give me some ideas for what type of stores… (I really have no idea… we’re not close.)

@3scoutsmom OMG matching pjs. I think she’d get a kick out of that. Great idea!

@moonchild that’s a good idea- I think she’d like those. I know she likes cashmere.

@pokeyjoe I’ve never heard of lululemon. I’ll check it out.

Thanks!

Nice, warm gloves, to wear when she’s taking her dog outside.

What about a luxury food gift?

S2 loves truffles. On my last trip I picked up a jar of white truffles. I’m going to drop it in his stocking.

@rosered55 definitely a consideration.

@gmtplus7 I admit I’m not much of a food or sweets person. She likes sweets and especially white chocolate. Any suggestions on companies to look into to ship her (or me) stuff?

Personally I prefer mittens over gloves. Gloves make my fingers very cold.

^ Oh that reminds me. Any gloves have to be the kind that are usable with touchscreens.

If she doesn’t have a pair of decent earbuds, you can get her a pair in the $100 range. Something like Bose SoundTrue are a bit of an indulgence that most people would probably think are too expensive to buy for themselves. The sound quality is actually very noticeably better than cheap earbuds in the $30 range and likely something a frequent traveler would appreciate.

A portable power pack she can throw in her purse. Will charge any of her electronics a few times therefore never being without power. I have bought these as gifts and they are well loved. Make sure you get one with prongs that you can plug into the wall to charge.

Highly recommend this for everyone.

My daughters are of the opinion that a pug is a suitable gift for any occasion.

Tiffany key ring or a lightweight wool/cashmere wrap - great for traveling as well as wearing in cold weather (or cold offices).
Maybe a poster-size print of her dog or a makeup bag with a photo print of the dog on it. One of my daughters had one made with a photo of one of our (now deceased) pugs on it. It always brings a smile. I have no clue where she got it from, though, just “someplace online”.

If you decide give Lulu a try, here is one possibility - not just for runners. These gloves are super soft and DO work with touchscreens unlike some others I have tried (hey run big - I have M hands and get XS/S in these):

Do get a gift receipt. Their clothes run “true to Euro size” (check the reviews for recommendations).

For chocolates… These are pretty decent chocolates - Amazon just recently partnered with Nestle (who owns the brand):

What about a gift certificate for a mani and pedi? If you have some left over, what about a nice new travel jewelry/cosmetics case?

Maybe a 6-month subscription to Birchbox or similar. Each month the cute little box arrives with higher-end samples of makeup, lotion, perfume, beauty stuff. I’m not a “glam girl” by any stretch, but it was fun to dabble and to receive the box each month.

How about a spa day that you can go to together?
