I’m going to get a laptop through Duke, but I don’t know which one (I don’t know much about computers :frowning: ). Any advice?

2

IBM or Apple. I got a Gateway though. But I prefer IBMs over any other brand.

3

Everyone gets Dell’s

4

IBMs are more reliable I think

5

Yeah, IBMs typically have better coverage as well. There is one for around $1599 on the Blue Devil Delivery Catalog.

6

It sounds like I should go for the IBM. :)

7

Apples are seriously some of the most reliable computers, especially when it comes to viruses. You’re going to get viruses on a college network-- my roommates computers (yes, plural) ended up completely fried before the year ended, and my Apple never got infected once (and lazy me had never installed any sort of virus scan). I always had problems with Dells and IBMs crashing and that evil “blue screen”, but never with an Apple. But I’ve also become a very biased Apple lover (and not a techy nerd at all, I swear!).

The only thing to consider with an Apple is the compatability… which never presented me with TOO much of a problem.

8

Yes get an Apple :)

You will feel so happy when your Ibook or Powerbook doesnt get infected with spyware, adware or viruses.

Hugs his new Ibook

And if you must get a laptop with Windows XP OS, then yes get an IBM…

9

Or you guys can be cool like me and have fun in Dell Hell. :p

10

Im going to be getting a Dell 700m for the first semester from Costco, they have a 6 month return policy so I’ll try it out for the first semester before deciding whether to keep it

11

If youre getting a dell, buy from site before 10th and you can get 40% off by using a coupon code. Great deal. And if you’er very concerned abt accidental damage coverage, you can opt for that straight from dell for an extra $100.
Duke is rather expensive, i wouldnt buy there myself.

12

Do you know wthe coupon code?

13

<a href=“TechnologyGuide - TechTarget”>TechnologyGuide - TechTarget;

I was going to get one myself, but it takes a week or so to deliver, and I wont have moved in by then.

14

40% off purchase EXPIRED EARLY

15

Haha, okay you’re a bit unlucky. They expire after around 5000 uses or somehing. The other offers are still there! And if you wait a bit, they’ll come around again.

GPL3SMPXB6JKSB

Here you go. 40% off on the Dell Inspiron 9300. Im not sure if its for all Inspirons, though. Just check.
