I’m waiting for a response from three schools, all of which are at least three weeks late. On their websites, they say they have everything they need from me, so I’m confused as to why they haven’t responded. Could it be because I marked that I’m intending to receive financial aid on the application, but have not added them to my FAFSA? Thanks!
If they are supposed to have issued decisions, then there’s no harm in trying to contact them first thing in January. The lack of FAFSA shouldn’t have anything to do with it
Need clarity. What colleges have a final decision release date that was first week of December or before? I am not aware of any. If you are talking about applying to a college that has rolling admissions, in that it provides decisions as complerted applications are received and you applied a long time ago and are still waiting, then be aware that many of those colleges sit on many decisions for some time until they see how large and qualified the application pool will actually be. It has nothing to do with FAFSA. It is usually just that your qualifications look like many other candidates that the college has also decided to sit on for a while.
Which colleges are you talking about? Did you check the CC forums to see if anyone else has received a decision yet?
If you need financial aid and are hoping to receive a package before you leave the country in Feb., why haven’t you added those schools to the financial aid forms? You should add the EA school with the Feb. 1 decision date too.
If they had a specific decision date it wouldn’t hurt to give them a call next week to see if they need something that isn’t listed on the portal, but if they’re rolling admissions schools I wouldn’t worry about it. Even if you’re out of the country until the end of April, you should be able to access (and accept) the decisions and financial aid packages through the online portal. If they don’t have a specific release date for decisions I wouldn’t call them. You won’t be able to hurry the decisions along. Just finish the paperwork so your financial aid packages aren’t delayed.
I’m referring to Hofstra, York, and Roanoke. Roanoke has a two-three week response time and they’re rolling, and I submitted to them in late November. I submitted to York in early December and they’re rolling as well. The main question here is about Hofstra, whose EA notification date was supposed to be December 15 (which I’m realizing is only two weeks ago, but that’s beside the point). The reason I’ve included York and Roanoke in the question is simply because of the similar FAFSA circumstances, regardless of their different application processes.
Also, I can’t add them to my FAFSA because I’m already at the limit for schools.
If you’re at the limit for schools for FAFSA, it’s possible to add more schools. There are instructions on the FAFSA site. Here is a non-FAFSA site with instructions:
I applied to 14 schools so I also reached my limit on the FAFSA. I still got all of my decisions in a timely manner so I don’t think that should affect you either. I would call the admissions office and ask if they have everything they need for your app. 3 weeks late sounds like something went wrong, although rolling admission does tend to take especially long this time of year because it’s when they get the most apps.
