Help finding a boarding school?

Hello. I’m a thirteen year old girl in the eighth grade looking to spend time at a boarding school for my highschool education. I have already had talks with my principal, guidance counselor, and mom about my decision. I am in two advanced classes (the only ones offered at my school) and am still finding school easy. I easily have the highest test scores in my middle school. The problem is, I don’t apply myself very well. My mom thinks that a boarding school that would actually challenge me would be best. I have no homesick problems (I spent half of my summer at a gifted and talented program at a boarding school last year) and am very well with connecting with people. Sadly, I have to wait until late April to take the SSAT, so I won’t know officially until then.
Also, I need a school that challenges my artistic side as well. My passions are dance, theatre, music, and art. Thanks!

Its kind of really late to apply considering. Most apps have already reached your deadlines and I’m assuming you haven’t done interviews and talked to admissions peeps yet. You may be able to apply as a late applicant after april which is when people make their descisions where to go. You may have a better chance applying for next year. If you are good luck, you seem like a great (better than me  ) applicant!

Well you have many choices. If you are looking for schools with academic rigor, you might enjoy looking at schools such as Phillips Academy Andover, or even Phillips Exeter Academy. They both go very in depth in the subjects they teach, and also offer over 300 courses, so there is much variety. Also, how do you feel about distance, and what region do you live in, so I can get a better feel to help you.

You should look at NMH and SPS. They both are great at arts. NMH has a new arts building that it beyond fabulous!

It’s not at all too late to apply. Many schools have rolling admissions and their admissions process kicks into high gear after the Northeastern big boys are done with theirs. Some of these schools do not require the SSAT either. You can find a list of schools with rolling admission on Boarding School Review. Do you have any geographical constraints?
