To make my list of schools that I will be applying to, I’ve been looking at a lot of articles in the area I’m interested in and seeing where the authors are from. Using this method, I’ve come up with 7 schools (well more than that because that number doesn’t account for the people not taking students). I am interested in researching schizophrenia and psychosis. Does anyone know a psychologist in the US who is researching this at a place that has a PhD program? I’ll keep doing my own research, but I thought I’d also reach out for some help.
@wannabepsych19 - Welcome to the Forum! This is not really a question that can be answered by the participants on this forum. I suggest you speak with your professors and ask them about this in addition to doing the kind of research you are already doing, exactly as you should.
^Yes, this. There are many, many professors in clinical psychology (and other areas) across the U.S. that do research on schizophrenia and psychosis. You’ll have to get more specific than that when you are looking for PhD programs. Continue using the method you’ve already identified (reading journal articles and identifying where the authors are), then talk to your professors in your own department. You can also visit the websites of top clinical psychology programs and read through the list of faculty to see what they’re doing, but this is a tedious and inefficient method.
