Help for an AP Lit Paper

My assignment is to compare and contrast the tragic elements in Antigone and Things Fall Apart. Can anyone help me brainstorm ideas that I can use to write this 3-5 page paper?

I haven’t read Antigone, but I’ve read Things Fall Apart.

But from what I know about Antigone, the most obvious difference is that Antigone is a drama and from Greece, while Things Fall Apart is a novel from Nigeria. This is a weird comparison essay, I could see comparing Things Fall Apart and Heart of Darkness and maybe Antigone and Oedipus, but this?

Well anyways, the most obvious similarity, is the fact that the main characters both hang themselves at the end, and therefore both stories are tragedies. I know that Okonkwo’s death was very ironic, because throughout the story he adhered to all of his society’s crazy rules (although not too crazy for himself, except for his killing of Ikemefuna), and they felt that suicide was against their god…and what does he do? Commit suicide, and you can tell that society was completely against this, even if Okonkwo was some super warrior, because none of the Africans would touch the rope he had hung himself with. Was Antigone’s death ironic? I really don’t know.

Yea, I really only know the detail of Things Fall Apart, so if you can name some details of both, I could probably talk about them more.
