HELP!, how likely is it to get into the UC Berkeley's summer pre-colligate program with a low GPA

i am thinking about applying to the UC Berkeley’s pre-colligate summer program(a summer session held by the school which offers credit course ) because i currently have a low gpa due to the unawareness of its importance until recently (i am an international student that was unfamilar with the US system until recently ) so i need something else to show my academic ability such as the summer program transcript. my uw gpa currently is only 3.49/4, and part of the reason is that i did poorly in my a-level art course(only a C, i don’t know how will that affect). As an international student, i have a way more higher TOEFL score than needed(105/120), but the gpa drawback is still huge. will it help much if i write a good letter of interest? currently i have some academic awards including the Champion of WSC’s scholar challenge in the regional round, a gold award in UKMT and a bronze in the British Physics Olympiad, and i have good reputation in my school. Will they help if i mention then in the letter?
I am really going mad of worrying if berkeley is really going to accept me for this program otherwise it is very important for me to apply for another to ensure that me get into any of them. I am really looking forward for the help. thank u really very much for helping.

it is really a difficult thing to find a summer program that is useful and avialable to me. i found some programs that dont require much but i really cannot attend them because i am not avialable until the 4th of July becaue of the global round of the WSC contest in tailand. And my family is not very wealthy so i cannot go to those expensive programs in those private schools. Apart from berkerley there is really not many choices. weather or not i can get into this one is really essential! HELP!

You should spend the money and time on a some SAT or ACT test prep rather than the UCB summer program. Whatever performance you get in that program will be minimal to your overall chances. You said your family isn’t wealthy – then it’s an even MUCH more bad idea. Summer programs don’t make much difference. A 100 point swing in your SAT or a few points on your ACT will make a difference.

@T26E4 I already got a 34 on the ACT exam so there is not much to do. i think the summer program will help me in this specific way because it is more in the form of a course, whose grading process is very similar to the grading process of the gpas in a high school.

i think i have already thought a lot and is very clear and sure about the reasons why i am chosing to go to a summer program. it is a thing that is already decided. Now the problem is more about whether i am going to be accepted by this one or otherwise i need to think about some other programs other than if a program will be useful for me. My family is not that increadibly weathy, but is still pretty OK. It is actually my parents that suggested me to go to a summer session like that. BUT FOR THE CHANCES IF I AM ABLE TO GET IN I AM STILL WORRYING A LOT. do you guys know the admission process of the program and really how rigorous is it?
