I’m a Chinese student and recently I’m studing in one of the best high schools in Beijing. My academic performance is well (average 97.3/100; rank top 5%; TOEFL 111; SAT II Maths 800, Physics 740 & Chemistry 740; my ACT would be around 31 or 32; AP USH,Cal BC & Micro E, around 4 or 5), but talking about my EC and awards, well, that’s really poor. Here is the list of my ECs and awards:

Officer of Academic Issue in the Student Government (2012-present), and we arranged the first Christmas Ball and the first chess competition in my school
Model UN Club: Member (2011-2012), President (2012-present)

Summer Session of UC Berkeley in 2011 and my GPA of that summer is 3.43.
I’m going to take Yale’s Summer Session in this summer. I think my grade would be about the same as in Berkeley.
Lots of debate competitions in my high school.
and also, I have been playing Shaolin Cudgel (similar to Japanese Bo) for about 2 years.
I attended China’s 60 Years Anniversary Parade as a Volunteer in Background-making Square in 2009. I spent at least 100 hours on that (we had been training for the whole summer until October). I’m not sure I should enclude that.

Awards:
Schools Honor Prize for Overall Development (2011)
Schools Honor Prize for Academic Performance (2011)
Lots of medals for 200-meter running and relay in my schools’ sports meetings
First place in the chess competition (yes, THAT one mentioned above)
Award for Distinguish Conductor during the Schools Second Art Festival (2012)
Award for Outstanding Volunteer (2012)
Award for Outstanding Actor in the Schools Drama Festival (2011)
Award for Outstanding Performance in the Debate (grade 10 group) of Schools First Science Festival (2011)

However, I don’t have any regional or national award (that’s a pity!)

So I know I should write about my experiences in the Student Government, Summer Sessions and kungfu, but how can I really make me special from the other applicants?
