HELP! I CANT GET A JOB! ( not even the 8/hr ones)

This is truely maddening. I applied to almost 35 jobs in the nyc area and I didnt get single response!

I applied to Kaplan SCORE! and they seemed kinda racist because the way they looked at me. I am a muslim with a small beard and I felt that kinda ruined it.

I dont know, but it seems the stupid unicru tests for best buy and circuit city are flagging me red. I have always got a job with those tests but for some reason its not working for me any more.

I applied to those Greenpeace and charity jobs where you stand in the streets and tell people that the world is burning down so please pay up. I couldnt get those jobs ( he said he would " definitely" call, havent heard of his as of 9:42 pm today)

to top it off, the economy is bad so people arent spending money ( why? I dont get it, so many sales?? nothings changed))

I started my own blog and realized no one wants to read about political blogs before posting somethings that totally fake ( obama controversies,)

WHAT DO I DO!!!

start your own business

im 20 years old with little programming abilities.

did i mention i was looking for a summer job?

8 dollars an hour is a lot.

yeah, after tax its around 6

Still more than minimum wage.

no its 7.15 in ny.

seriously guys tell me where u guys get jobs

food service is nearly always hiring people.

Have you had a job before?

8 dollars an hour is nothing… I can get a job for $15/h easily up here (Alberta), although our stuff costs more here, but not twice as much.

Wow i must come there then, hehe, whats the average rate per hour in the country? or is it variant within places?

NYeagle, dude…NEVER wait for a call…they almost never call you…you have to be assertive and go to the place you applied and personally ask the manager if they have read your application and so on…

When did you apply for the job? Some businesses receive a lot of applications daily and it takes time to process them. Some aren’t hiring right now but will keep your application on file for a year or two. When I applied for jobs when I turned 16, I heard back from a few within a week (none were currently hiring), and heard back from one a month after applying. I got that job and ended up working there for over two years.

PS–almost nobody is going to call you after 5pm, out of general business courtesy, so waiting for a call after 9pm is absurd.

$8/hour? I’m getting $6/hour, before taxes.

8 an hour is minimum wage herrre…actually i think it’s a little more… :D
