As a just graduated senior, trust me, admissions are so random.
A girl with published scientific papers who spoke at conferences, was a professional medical illustrator for a local medical school, had a 34 or 35 on the act, and a 4.0 in a course load of nearly all AP classes got waitlisted from Vanderbilt. A kid who was very active in stuco and service and did a summer-long research program but never published, got several Bs, took a less rigorous course load, and went test optional bc his act was under 30 got in and is going next year. Why did it work out that way? No clue.
Youâll always hear of people with a better application over the next 4 years getting rejected from prestigious schools. Thatâs what happens. A girl I know going to Yale got rejected from Harvard, a boy I know at Dartmouth got rejected from WashU, etc etc.
if you compare yourself to others, youll just get more tired, anxiety-filled, and burned out. It will not make you a better student! You donât need to worry about college applications for another year at least. Just do your best for now and most importantly, enjoy high school because you wonât get these 4 years back!
One high B in 9th grade is a big nothing burger. Please relax about grades or the stress from it could cause bigger issues. Please go enjoy your summer!
Nope. You should not worry about this at all. Plenty of students gets some Bâs in HS and still make it into the most selective colleges in the country.
Itâs awesome you got a âBâ. Be proud of yourself. Itâs a hard class for many as a Freshman. Donât worry about being perfect or class rank. Just do your best. Something tells me you are a hard worker and will continue to get good grades. But honestly itâs more important to have great understanding of the subject. Sometimes grades donât always reflect that.
You are fine. Go over your weaknesses with your teacher and strengthen those.
Itâs alright to get a B in high school, especially in a class like Algebra 2. As someone who gets upset over their grades donât let it overtake you and let it effect your other grades. That happened to me in 6-7th grade and I almost crashed and burned because of it. Please calm down and remember that you arenât that B, your grades donât define you. Also that B can be counted as a A- in some states with a 89%. Btw that class rank is amazing, the kids that make it to that high of a rank are often some of the smartest kids, and Iâm sure if you work hard but also enjoy your school year then you will get a higher rank.
Please donât be too hard on yourself and take care.
