Help! I might be jailed!!!

I’m new to CC and just read a thread concerning how transfers shud list their g.p.as on their resume…

I recently transferred from Kalamazoo College, MI to SUNY Albany- My freshman year at Kalamazoo, I made a 4.0…however I made a 3.6 during my first semester soph year at SUNY albany…on my resume, I averaged both g.p.a’s using suny’s grading scale and it came up to a 3.84 and I listed it on my resume as my SUNY cumulative—I thought this was perfectly honest since my Kalamazoo course credits transferred to SUNY…

The problem is that I applied to Lehman…I didn’t think I’ll get invited to interview…but I got invited surprisingly! I was extremely excited until I bumped into the CC thread that says that apparently how I listed my G.P.A on my resume is dishonest?

I thought it was perfectly ok when I calculated it that way…! What should I do? Should I withdraw my Lehman application? I don’t want to get accepted by Lehman and get thrown out by Lehman HR for dishonesty! What should I do???

bump anyone?
my lehman interview is in the next two days…I need advice

You did a very well… stupid thing to list this on CC. I know that Lehman/GS and bulge brackets READ CC - Internship/Career section. I’ve been PM-ed by people asking for me resume too to find out who I am.

If they ask, fess up, that’s all I can say.

Just contact them and tell them you calculated the GPA that way and ask if that was correct. Or ask your current school what your GPA is. It sounds like an honest mistake to me (I thought the GPA transferred - does it vary from school to school?). Better to ask about it now up front then if it is a problem you know now rather than down the road when you are more invested. They will see your transcript eventually so sort this out now. Good luck.

thanks guys…

I’ll let Lehman know…but I seriously thought I was being honest…

I am a transfer and my school basically gave me a new gpa once i got here. My cumulative is the gpa from my first semester at the new school and the career development office told me not to list my old school unless i wanted to. I think it really varies from school to school though.

If they ask you about it in the interview just be honest and let them know. They are human after all!

I was going to be let them know at the interview when they’ll obviously have my transcript from both schools but I didn’t think that it was even remotely going to be perceived as dishonest—oh, so what’s the verdict- should I wait till they ask me at the interview day or should I call them and bring it up now before the interview?

crap! what if they cancel my application?- I shouldn’t have transfered!

You’re overreacting. Just let them know at the start of the interview. I’m sure you’re not the only person who has done it.

ok so they didn’t ask for my official transcript, didn’t ask any questions at the interview and now I have an offer…what should I do…?

the annoying thing is that I really meant no harm-

Might want to give them a call - they’ll get your official transcripts soon enough. What you did may not even be considered dishonest according to their standards. Looks at it this way - if you call them now, they’re not going to automatically reject you (or even think about it). However, if they call you, then theres a problem.

Just make sure you are honest - say that you are not sure whether you calculated your GPA correctly for not, and ask them to check it for you - it may be how they want it calculated.

thanks for your advice. I’ll do exactly just that.
