I skipped pre-k because I was pretty smart so I’m a year younger than everyone else in my grade. My mother gave the school a fake birthday so I could be in the grade I’m in now (freshman). I want to know, when doing my college applications, do I put my real one? And if I put my real one will they not accept me because I had a fake one? Or will they not know or care. This is really important.

I’d talk to your guidance counselor and get it straightened out before you fill in your applications.

Regardless of what mistake/conscious error your mom made. You have to do the right thing by putting your real age when applying to colleges, because they will have your SSN on record aswell.
If any issue should arise, the past can be overlooked, but you have keep it true GOING FORWARD.
Best of luck to you.

That’s really sad. So every birthday party you’ve had with friends, you’ve had to pretend you’re a different age than you really are? Do you even bother telling anyone how old you are? I would start putting your correct birthday on every form you fill out from now on. It’s hard to say what effect it will have on your college apps. As long as your mom changed only the year, maybe they’ll assume it’s just a typo.

You should sort it out as soon as possible your record at school. You don’t want to be rescinded due to application fraud. Sooner or later, you will need to provide those information on FAFSA too. Providing falsified document or information are criminal act that can be prosecuted. There are legal ways to skip a grade, but there is no point to start that at pre-k before any academic assessment.
