Help--Is My Principal Being Too Helpful?

Hi, my name is Joe and I’m applying to Brown early decision. (This is already in the Parents Forum, but I’d like to get as many responses as possible.)

My question is this–my principal said that he wanted to make a call/send an email/basically contact the local Brown admissions officer to put in a good word for me. Our school hasn’t been that successful in getting kids into top colleges, so my principal said that this year he would be more “proactive” in the college admissions process…my concern is that he might do more harm than good. Do I have reason to be concerned? Or should I be glad that I have such a helpful principal? What are your thoughts? Thanks a lot for your help.

Be glad. It certainly can’t hurt you.

Good luck with Brown!

It’s not uncommon for principals to call a school. My principal is calling Harvard on my behalf. Good luck with Brown!
