Do you enroll into an accepted school even if you are trying to get off a waitlist? I was confused because you have to give an enrollment notification by April 10, but after April 10, they begin to accept people off their waitlist… For example (using random school names here), I got into Exeter and not into Andover, but I am hoping to get off the waitlist for Andover. Can I or do I still enroll in Exeter? How does it work if you enroll in a school and then get off of a waitlist?
I suggest you read the “Waitlist” thread on this forum… there is a lot of good information and advice on there. It is pinned to the top of the page in the Featured Threads section.
The odds of getting off a waitlist is very low, so if you have a good acceptance, it means you should probably enroll there instead. DO NOT bank on a waitlist letting you off, because it almost never happens. Love the school that loves you!
If you are already enrolled, you can get out, but you forfeit that down payment.
If accepted by one school, but waitlisted at your first choice school, then you can enroll in School A while waiting to get off the waitlist for School B. If you do not enroll at School A by the deadline, you will lose your place.
